Chicago Police Officer Jason Van Dyke fatally shot 17-year-old Laquan McDonald on a Southwest Side street on Oct. 20, 2014. Unlike most other city police shootings at the time, this one was captured on video.
A judge forced the city to release the recording to the public 13 months later, and the images of a white cop shooting the black teen sparked outrage and protests.
